In a horrifying incident in Madhya Pradesh, a five-year-old boy was brutally murdered inside his home on Friday. The accused, identified as Mahesh, 25, allegedly entered the residence of Kalu Singh and attacked the child with a sharp spade-like tool. The assault was so savage that it severed the boy’s neck from his torso and further mutilated his body.
The child’s mother attempted to intervene during the attack and sustained injuries herself. Traumatized by the violent scene, her cries for help alerted nearby neighbors who quickly rushed to the house.
Upon arrival, the villagers captured Mahesh and severely thrashed him before the police could reach the location. Mahesh died en route to the hospital.
**Community Response and Investigation**
Dhar Superintendent of Police Mayank Awasthi described the crime as “extremely heartbreaking.” He confirmed that Mahesh died on the way to the hospital due to the injuries inflicted by the villagers. Awasthi added, “The real cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem. Initial investigations suggest he was mentally unstable.”
A case has been registered against Mahesh, and a judicial inquiry into his death is currently underway.
**Background**
Mahesh was a resident of Jobat Bagdi in the Alirajpur district and had been missing from home for three to four days prior to the incident. His family informed the police that he was mentally unstable. Notably, just an hour before the attack, Mahesh allegedly attempted to steal goods from a nearby store.
The family of Kalu Singh stated that they had never seen Mahesh before this tragic episode.
