BRUSSELS, Belgium — Eurozone inflation edged up in September, buoyed by rising energy costs, official data showed Wednesday. This increase reinforces expectations that the European Central Bank (ECB) will not make further interest rate cuts this year.
Inflation rose to 2.2 percent last month, up from two percent in August, according to the EU’s statistics agency. This figure is above the ECB’s two-percent target.
