**Ranbir Kapoor-Rajkumar Hirani’s Upcoming Film on Hold: Here’s Why**

The much-anticipated collaboration between director Rajkumar Hirani and actor Ranbir Kapoor has been put on hold, according to reports from Mid-Day. The duo, who previously delivered a hit with *Sanju* (2018), were set to reunite for a biopic. However, industry insiders have revealed that the project has now been pushed to 2027 due to script delays and Kapoor’s busy schedule.
### Project Delay: ‘Hirani Decided to Park It’
A trade source shared with the portal, “Hirani and Ranbir were very excited about this one; they had been jamming on it throughout the year. But since the script needed more time, Hirani decided to park it. Ranbir’s calendar is packed, so it made sense to regroup later. Everyone wants it to be like *Sanju*, so they’re okay to wait.”
### New Focus: Hirani’s Next Venture with Aamir Khan
With the biopic on hold, Rajkumar Hirani has shifted his focus to another exciting project — a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke starring Aamir Khan. The film is slated to go on floors in January 2026.
An insider revealed that Khan has been preparing extensively for the role by changing his look and participating in workshops. This will mark Khan’s first portrayal of a real-life cinema pioneer, with Hirani aiming to “give it the grandeur it deserves.”
### Ranbir Kapoor’s Busy Schedule and Future Projects
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor remains occupied with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s *Love & War* and the second installment of Nitesh Tiwari’s *Ramayana*. Once these projects are wrapped up, Kapoor will decide between two highly anticipated films in advanced development: *Dhoom 4* and *Animal Park*.
It’s worth noting that Kapoor had previously appeared in a cameo role in Hirani’s *PK* (2014), which also starred Aamir Khan, highlighting the longstanding creative connections between the trio.
