The much-anticipated collaboration between director Rajkumar Hirani and actor Ranbir Kapoor has been put on hold, according to a report by Mid-Day. The duo, who previously worked together in the critically acclaimed *Sanju* (2018), were expected to reunite for a biopic. However, insiders reveal that the project has been pushed to 2027 due to script delays and Ranbir Kapoor’s busy schedule.

A trade source shared, “Hirani and Ranbir were very excited about this one; they had been brainstorming throughout the year. But since the script needed more time, Hirani decided to park it. Ranbir’s calendar is packed, so it made sense to regroup later. Everyone wants it to be like *Sanju*, so they’re okay to wait.”
### Rajkumar Hirani’s New Focus
With the biopic on hold, Hirani has shifted his attention to another major project — a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, starring Aamir Khan. This film is set to go on floors in January 2026. An insider revealed that Khan has been preparing intensely for the role, including changing his look and participating in workshops. This will be Khan’s first portrayal of a real-life cinema pioneer, and Hirani aims to “give it the grandeur it deserves.”

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is keeping busy with several high-profile projects, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s *Love & War* and the second part of Nitesh Tiwari’s *Ramayana*.
