Behind his three rushing touchdowns, Colts’ RB Jonathan Taylor was once again the team’s Player of the Game in their Week 5 win.
After a relatively quiet first half, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor found his rhythm late in the game, helping propel the Colts to a commanding 40-6 blowout victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Taylor recorded only 24 rushing yards at halftime. Before his 16-yard carry to end the first half, he had just seven carries for eight yards. Despite this below-average first-half performance, Taylor still found the end zone with a three-yard rushing touchdown, extending Indianapolis’ lead to 14-3.
He finished the game with 66 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, marking his second game this season with a hat trick of touchdowns. Taylor also added three receptions for 20 yards, contributing to the Colts’ dominant offensive performance.
His second touchdown was a one-yard carry that capped off an 11-play, 68-yard drive. Taylor surpassed his entire first-half rushing yardage on the Colts’ opening drive of the third quarter, fully showcasing his ability to take over the game.
Taylor scored his third touchdown of the day near the end of the third quarter during a quick three-play, 44-yard drive. He had two carries on that drive, including a three-yard run that set up his six-yard rushing touchdown. He then converted the Colts’ two-point attempt on the ground, bringing his total points for the game to 20.
Entering Week 5, Taylor led the league in rushing yards with 414. Unless James Cook or Travis Etienne have monster games in their upcoming Sunday and Monday night matchups, respectively, Taylor is expected to maintain his spot as the NFL’s rushing leader entering Week 6. Additionally, his seven total touchdowns (six rushing, one receiving) currently lead the NFL in scoring.
