**Rishabh Pant Set for Ranji Trophy Return in Late October**

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is on the verge of making a comeback in competitive cricket through the Ranji Trophy. According to The Times of India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will conduct an assessment of his recovery this week, with a possible clearance expected by October 10. If given the green light, Pant could feature for Delhi starting from October 25.
**Assessment and Recovery Progress**
A BCCI source revealed, “As of now, there is a likelihood he could be cleared by October 10. An assessment is due this week. It has been a long recovery for him. The BCCI medical team doesn’t want to take any chances with him.”
Pant has been sidelined since July after fracturing his foot during the fourth Test against England. Although the injury was initially expected to heal within six weeks, complications arose when the metatarsal in his right foot broke under pressure as he attempted to bat the following day.
Despite this setback, Pant has shown significant progress in his recovery over the past 20 days. His return to cricket will depend on his fitness levels and approval from the BCCI.
**Impact on Upcoming Matches**
Due to his injury, Pant missed the ongoing two-Test series against the West Indies as well as the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia. However, if cleared to play, he could participate in two Ranji Trophy matches before November 5.
This potential return comes ahead of India’s home Test series against South Africa, scheduled to begin on November 14. Pant’s involvement will hinge on his readiness as confirmed by the Center of Excellence (CoE).

During the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, Pant delivered an impressive performance across four Test matches. He amassed 479 runs in seven innings at an average of 68.42. This included two centuries and three half-centuries, along with 17 sixes, showcasing his aggressive batting style.
