Programme managers for the European Innovation Council (EIC) face a significant challenge in their roles. Tasked with envisioning technological breakthroughs and selecting funding teams capable of turning these ideas into reality, each manager is responsible for a substantial number of projects.
According to the council’s president, Michiel Scheffer, the EIC’s ten programme managers oversee anywhere between 20 and 300 projects each. He noted that this high ratio could be “quite problematic,” highlighting the demanding nature of their responsibilities.
