The Claremont School District’s independent auditor recently identified the cause of the district’s $5 million deficit.
According to the audit report, a form submitted to the state Department of Revenue Administration in late 2022 overstated the district’s revenues by $1 million.
This accounting error significantly contributed to the financial shortfall, highlighting the need for more accurate reporting and oversight in future submissions.
