This 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 was imported to the US from Colombia under previous ownership and was offered on Bring a Trailer (BaT) in July 2022 before being acquired by the current seller later that year.
Since then, the truck has undergone several upgrades and repairs. Notable additions include a Dometic cooler, a steel nitrogen bottle, and a removable wall panel featuring six beer tap handles. The body was repainted green, the cylinder head and rear axle were rebuilt, and multiple components were replaced, including the power steering pump, steering gearbox, alternator, carburetor, and cooling system parts.
Under the hood, this FJ43 is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six engine linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It rides on black-finished 16″ steel wheels wrapped in 265/75 Hankook Dynapro ATM tires, with a matching spare mounted on the swing-out rear carrier. Other features include a beige soft top, AVM manually locking front hubs, power-assisted drum brakes, and coilover shocks fitted at the rear.
The two-door FJ43 is the medium-wheelbase version of the FJ40. This example’s beige canvas soft top can be rolled up on the driver’s side to reveal six beer tap handles mounted on a removable wall panel. Additionally, a wooden countertop can be attached to a tubular support beam for convenience.
Exterior details include a silver-finished front bumper, tow ball, LED headlights, rear mud flaps, and dual side mirrors. The front compartment houses a 60/40-split bench seat upholstered in black vinyl, though the driver’s seat vinyl is showing signs of separation. Replacement door panels have been installed, complemented by a passenger grab handle, rubberized flooring, and wind-up windows. The steering wheel features an aftermarket wrap, positioned ahead of replacement instrumentation comprising a 160 km/h speedometer and auxiliary gauges.
The five-digit odometer reads approximately 4,000 kilometers (~2,500 miles), with roughly 35 kilometers added since the current ownership. However, the truck’s total mileage remains unknown.
The rear compartment is fitted with a Dometic Cool Ice 110 cooler, a steel nitrogen tank, and a rubberized floor mat. The seller notes that instructions for the tap system and the removed jump seat will be included with the sale.
The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six engine was factory rated at 135 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. Maintenance completed in March 2024 includes rebuilding the cylinder head and replacing the head gasket, carburetor, alternator, drive belt, valve cover gasket, fan, fan clutch, water pump, thermostat, radiator, coolant hoses, and intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. The rear axle was also rebuilt during this time.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels or all four wheels through the four-speed manual transmission and dual-range transfer case. The front axle is equipped with AVM manually locking hubs, and power steering components such as the pump, lines, and steering gearbox were replaced recently.
This 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 comes with spare parts and a South Carolina title issued in the seller’s name. The title carries an “Exempt” notation under the Vehicle Brand(s) section.
Overall, this well-maintained and thoughtfully upgraded FJ43 offers both classic versatility and unique character for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
