Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about the “valleys of real struggle” she and her husband, Valeri Bure, have faced throughout their 29 years of marriage. The “Full House” alum shared candidly with Us Weekly in an interview published Wednesday that their relationship hasn’t always been “incredible” and “wonderful.”
“There were times of deep brokenness that I felt,” Candace revealed, noting that she and Valeri were able to rebuild their relationship and “back up” from those difficult moments. She credited her faith in God as the key to their restoration, saying, “But God is in the restoration business. [God] loves to restore and make all things new, and he certainly has.”
While Candace did not go into detail about the specific struggles the couple faced, she shared that balancing work and family life has “always” been a challenge for her. “I think so many women experience that,” she added.
Even now, Candace admitted that she still “wrestle[s] with brokenness” on some days. “I have experienced that,” she said. “I mean, we all do. I don’t know that it’s [something] I feel daily, but there have been seasons of that in my life.”
This vulnerable interview comes as Candace promotes her upcoming 30-day devotional, *Rise and Renew*, scheduled for release on November 11.
Candace and Valeri married in June 1996 and have three children together: Natasha, 27, Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23.
In a July episode of her self-titled podcast, Candace opened up about a “really, really rough season” she and Valeri went through in 2020, during which they weren’t sure their marriage would survive. She explained that it wasn’t until their son Lev, who married Elliot Dunham in January 2024, gave them a “45-minute sermon on marriage” that their perspective shifted.
“He just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it,” Candace shared. “‘You know, I know I haven’t been married. I’m just a young kid. And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.’”
