Australian Rapper Iggy Azalea Joins Solana-Based Memecoin Launchpad Thrust as Creative Director and Partner
Australian rapper and entrepreneur Iggy Azalea has teamed up with a new Solana-based memecoin launchpad called Thrust, taking on the role of creative director and partner. According to a press statement released by Azalea’s media group, her token MOTHER will migrate to Thrust’s platform by the end of 2025.
Thrust officially launched on Wednesday as a curated platform designed for verified creators and public figures eager to explore Web3 and digital currencies. The platform aims to provide a legitimate and sustainable ecosystem for fans and creators alike, addressing the common shortcomings seen in celebrity-backed crypto projects.
Iggy Azalea’s Role in Thrust and Vision for Celebrity Tokens
Azalea, who initially launched her MOTHER token in 2024, expressed that her interest in Thrust stemmed from a desire to foster legitimacy within the celebrity crypto space. She also reportedly holds equity in the company.
Speaking at the Blockchain Futuristic Conference in Florida, Azalea highlighted the often loose use of the term “token” when celebrities launch digital coins. “It’s not just that I aesthetically decide what things look like for Thrust as a company,” she said. “I’m a large part of the concepts when we’re white-gloving these celebrities onboard. I guess it’s almost like being a godmother.”
Addressing Issues in Celebrity-Backed Crypto Projects
Jake Antifaev, Thrust co-founder and CEO, shared that the platform was created in response to the lack of legitimacy plaguing celebrity-backed crypto projects. “Celebrity memecoins have gotten a bad rap because they were never built on legitimacy or accountability. Culture Tokens is our way of changing that. Every launch on Thrust is vetted, contracted, and transparent, so both creators and fans know exactly what they’re getting into,” he explained.
Thrust’s developers emphasize a secure onboarding experience that connects users to specific fandoms through verified creators. Each token launched on the platform undergoes a rigorous due diligence process designed to prevent pump-and-dump schemes that have historically plagued the industry. Notably, celebrities will have zero ownership of the token’s allocation, ensuring greater transparency and trust.
Partnership with Twitch Streamer and Digital Casino Venture
Azalea’s collaboration with Thrust also includes the signing of her friend and fellow online personality, streamer Rangesh “N3on” Muthama, who co-owns her digital casino venture, MOTHERLAND. Muthama will join as a partner in the platform, contributing to community engagement strategies and creator onboarding initiatives.
Launched earlier this year, Azalea’s MOTHERLAND casino uses the MOTHER token as its gaming and reward system. However, the rapper recently acknowledged the need to rethink the project’s direction. “Not long ago, I was leaning into an online casino that’s built around my MOTHER token,” she said. “But I realized it can’t onboard other people into this chaos while creating value to pay for things, throw events, and do stuff.”
Reflecting on her entry into the crypto market, Azalea credited her motivation to “fire,” with significant assistance from her “smart and cool” 24-year-old foster brother, Mathias. She expressed a strong desire to counteract speculative rug pulls that have become prevalent, especially in celebrity token launches. “I’ve been kinda hellbent to see the demise of what I think is essentially rugpulls based on speculation… What if somebody delivered something that is what you guys wanted,” she remarked during a fireside chat, explaining her reasons for joining Thrust.
Changing the Landscape of Celebrity Crypto Involvement
Thrust’s launch arrives amid growing skepticism in the crypto community toward celebrity-backed tokens, many of which have collapsed or been accused of pump-and-dump schemes. Over the past two years, tokens promoted by notable figures such as Caitlyn Jenner, Jason Derulo, Cardi B, Ye, and Hailey Welch have experienced rapid declines after short-lived hype cycles.
Looking ahead, Thrust is preparing another memecoin collaboration with actress Megan Fox, with a release targeted for late November 2025.
