The 3-5 Baltimore Ravens are set to travel to play the 4-4 Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, coming off back-to-back wins.
A two-game winning streak shouldn’t be a surprise given the Ravens’ recent history of resilience. However, Baltimore appeared to be in a tough spot early in the season, holding a 1-5 record before defeating the Chicago Bears 30-16 in Week 8.
During that rough start, some fans began to question the future of head coach John Harbaugh and his staff. Additionally, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken attracted attention from Oklahoma State University after the Cowboys fired Mike Gundy on September 23.
Monken had two previous stints at OSU, most recently serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2011 and 2012. According to Jeff Johnson of On3, Monken is no longer being considered for the job in Stillwater. It remains unclear whether Monken declined the opportunity.
“If we work from the assumption that Monken likely has declined the job (we are now reporting that he is in fact out), that gets us to four,” Johnson wrote. “The list above is in alphabetical order, obviously.”
This marks a significant turn from last week, when Pete Nakos reported that Monken appeared to be the leading candidate for the Cowboys job.
“Among the names On3 continues to hear the most about from industry sources is Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken,” Nakos wrote. “It’s unclear at this point what his level of interest is in returning to Stillwater.”
Monken, 59, originally coached at OSU as passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2002 to 2004 during his first tenure with the program. He also has collegiate head coaching experience, compiling a 13-25 record over three seasons at Southern Miss from 2013 to 2015.
Most recently, Monken served as Georgia’s offensive coordinator from 2020 to 2022, playing a key role in helping the Bulldogs secure back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022.
