If I had to bet on it, I’d expect Justin Fields to be the starting quarterback for the 1-7 New York Jets in Week 10 as they face a tough Browns defense at home. The Jets enter the game as 2.5-point underdogs this Sunday.
The Jets recently held a fire sale on two of their top defensive players, trading away cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. However, they decided to keep two key offensive players who were possible trade targets: running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Hall is a go for the upcoming game, while Wilson remains questionable as he continues to deal with a knee injury. Let’s take a closer look at Wilson’s outlook.
Wilson hyperextended his knee three weeks ago but has only missed two games due to the Jets’ Week 9 bye. He was able to participate in limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, then was upgraded to a full practice on Friday. Despite this, he’s still officially listed as questionable.
Wilson expressed confidence in his ability to play, stating that he “feels great,” according to Rich Cimini. However, there is always a chance the team decides to hold him out again, given that they have nothing to play for this season and want to preserve Wilson for the long term.
If Wilson does not play, there aren’t any reliable receivers behind him to count on for fantasy purposes. Tyler Johnson performed well in Week 8, but with a tough matchup ahead, he’s not a very safe fantasy option. Tight end Mason Taylor could see an increased number of targets, which might boost his value.
If Wilson is able to play, which currently seems likely, he will see the majority of the targets. This makes him startable in most fantasy leagues. With Fields probably starting at quarterback, there isn’t a ton of upside, but Wilson’s consistent target volume—averaging over nine per game—combined with his talent, firmly secures his place in starting lineups.
