Drake Maye Showcases Respect for Baker Mayfield After Patriots’ Win Over Buccaneers
Drake Maye demonstrated his respect for Baker Mayfield following the New England Patriots’ hard-fought 28-22 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon. Now in his second year in the NFL, Maye has made significant strides that have helped the Patriots get off to a strong start in the 2025 campaign. With one of the best records in the league, New England secured a crucial road win against a solid Buccaneers squad.
Maye and Mayfield engaged in a competitive battle throughout the game, exchanging impactful plays during their respective offensive possessions. In the end, Maye came out on top as the Patriots outscored Tampa Bay. Reflecting on the MVP chants from the Tampa Bay crowd during the game, Maye believed they were directed at Mayfield rather than himself.
“They may have been for Baker (Mayfield). Baker played his butt off. Big fan of Baker’s game,” Maye said.
