**President Donald Trump Issues Pardons to Allies Involved in 2020 Election Slate of Electors Plot**
President Donald Trump issued pardons for several key allies accused of participating in a scheme to submit a false slate of electors from critical swing states, an effort aimed at overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election. The announcement was made late Sunday night by Pardon Attorney Ed Martin on X.
Among those pardoned were former members of Trump’s legal team, including Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and Sidney Powell, as well as former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Other notable recipients include Trump’s former advisor Boris Epshteyn, legal team member Jenna Ellis, and pro-Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro — who is considered the architect of the strategy to send fake electors from seven swing states that Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020.
In total, the president granted pardons to 77 individuals linked to the effort.
The official proclamation states that the pardons cover all conduct related to “the advice, creation, organization, execution, submission, support, voting, activities, participation in, or advocacy for or of any slate or proposed slate of Presidential electors in connection with the 2020 Presidential Election.”
Moreover, the pardon extends to actions tied to “their efforts to expose voting fraud and vulnerabilities in the 2020 Presidential Election,” echoing Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud in the election won by Biden.
Titled “Granting pardons for certain offenses related to the 2020 Presidential Election,” the proclamation explicitly clarifies that the pardon does not apply to President Trump himself.
