At one point, several films were extensively shot on the streets of Mumbai, but this trend has now become rare. However, Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film, *Haiwaan*, stands out in this regard.
The actor, along with co-star Saif Ali Khan, shot for nearly five days outside Churchgate railway station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus—both iconic locations situated in South Mumbai. According to a report in Mid-Day, they filmed a grand action sequence near Churchgate that featured a cat-and-mouse chase involving 30-40 cars and 100 junior artistes. The filming at this location extended over five nights and was choreographed by renowned action director Stunt Silva.
Priyadarshan, the film’s director, shared his thoughts on the shoot, saying, “Both Saif and Akshay knew how the sequence had to be shot and they cooperated, though Akshay is known to sleep early.” He also revealed that besides South Mumbai, the team shot scenes in Bandra Kurla Complex and that he still has nine days of work left with Saif Ali Khan.
Akshay Kumar has wrapped up his portions of *Haiwaan* and has now left for Dubai to begin shooting for *Welcome To The Jungle*.
Meanwhile, actress Shriya Pilgaonkar took to Instagram to share a photo posing with Priyadarshan. She informed her followers that she has also completed her shoot for *Haiwaan*, adding, “An absolute privilege to work with this stellar team led by Priyadarshan sir.”

### From *Holiday* to *Haiwaan*
The last time Akshay Kumar filmed such extensive sequences on Mumbai streets was for *Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty* (2014). During its tenth anniversary, producer Vipul Shah shared insights with Bollywood Hungama about how the shoot was managed:
“Mr. A.R. Murugadoss planned it meticulously. We had approximately sixteen hidden cameras and had marked the entire path for filming. We knew we could only shoot one take at a time because the moment people spotted Akshay at a Bandra signal, chaos would ensue. Thousands would gather quickly, making it impossible to shoot as Akshay’s character was supposed to blend in with the crowd.
We filmed the shot swiftly, after which Akshay would sit in his car and speed away. We used the parking lot of Gaiety-Galaxy for him to wait for the next shot. Akshay knew exactly where to walk and what to do. We ensured the shots were completed in one take; otherwise, we would have to wait 2-3 hours before attempting another take. Thankfully, all our shots were successful on the first attempt.”
