Seth Dillon of The Babylon Bee is a member of the alligator emoji tribe and a known rabid never-Trumper. In an apparent effort to stir up more friction between Israel and America First—a move that seems to serve the Alligator Emoji agenda aimed at splitting MAGA—Dillon and his team published a so-called “joke” story about Megyn Kelly being at risk from her pager.
The backlash was swift. Likely coming from their benefactors who didn’t appreciate The Babylon Bee reinforcing the dangerous “Israel will kill you” sentiment, the team eventually deleted the controversial tweet. Unsurprisingly, supporters of the alligator emoji tribe rallied to defend Dillon both for posting the tweet initially and then for deleting it.
Jokes generally only land well when the context behind them is widely understood. To find humor in this particular tweet, one would have to know the claim that the Israeli government will kill anyone who does not support them. The reference to exploding pagers and Megyn Kelly’s supposed danger alludes to Hamas’s experience with similar devices.
But does that really sound funny? Probably not. In fact, it likely wasn’t funny at all to the benefactors of The Babylon Bee, who back the broader agenda of the alligator emojis. You can almost imagine them saying, “Don’t make fun of what we do—it just reinforces the stereotypes.”
That’s precisely why Dillon deleted the tweet. If it had been a harmless joke that everyone recognized as such, there would have been no reason to remove it. Ultimately, this too-cute-by-half attempt at humor failed miserably.
What this episode reveals is more of DeSantis supporters and the alligator emoji followers echo-chambering themselves into foolishness. But I digress.
