Broncos Add Playmaking Veteran Duo in Roster Shakeup Before Chiefs Game

Posted on 2025 年 11 月 15 日 by admin

The Denver Broncos made a host of roster moves on Saturday, most notably placing running back J.K. Dobbins on injured reserve. But the Broncos weren’t finished there—they also added several players to their game-day roster ahead of their significant Week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

### Key Additions to the Broncos Roster

Headlining the day’s additions are veteran linebacker Garret Wallow and tight end Marcedes Lewis.

“Denver activated linebacker Garret Wallow from injured reserve and promoted cornerback Reese Taylor from the practice squad to the active roster,” wrote Aric DiLalla of DenverBroncos.com on November 15. “Denver also elevated tight end Marcedes Lewis and inside linebacker Jordan Turner for the Week 11 matchup.”

Wallow has been with the Broncos since the preseason. A former fifth-round pick (No. 170 overall) of the Houston Texans in the 2021 draft, he has also spent time with the Tennessee Titans. At 26 years old, Wallow has appeared in five games for the Broncos this season, exclusively playing on special teams.

Marcedes Lewis was signed to the Broncos’ practice squad before Week 9 against the Texans and has been called up in each of the last two games. Since he is now out of practice squad elevations, the Broncos had to sign him to the 53-man roster to keep using him.

Lewis, 41, a former Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Jacksonville Jaguars player, started for the Broncos in Week 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders—the same game in which Dobbins suffered his injury. However, Lewis has yet to catch a pass or even receive a target during his time with Denver.

Taylor (contract through 2024) and Turner (contract through 2025) are both former undrafted free agents who have seen playing time in games for the Broncos this season.

### Roster Cuts: Wide Receiver Trent Sherfield Released

J.K. Dobbins wasn’t the only player the Broncos will be without for the foreseeable future. The team also cut veteran wide receiver Trent Sherfield, who primarily contributed on special teams but did catch three passes for 21 yards over 10 games.

Sherfield, 29, is another former undrafted free agent who has played for the Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, and San Francisco 49ers. Denver boasts a deep wide receiver room headed by Courtland Sutton, alongside recent draft picks Marvin Mims, Pat Bryant, and Troy Franklin.

Given Sherfield’s specialist role, the Broncos decided they could not afford to keep him on the roster. It remains to be seen if they will attempt to bring him back as a member of their practice squad.

### Broncos Amp Up Hype for Chiefs Showdown

These roster moves are just a prelude to what is expected to be a fiercely contested game against the Chiefs in Week 11. The Broncos have leaned heavily into the importance of the matchup, even releasing a hype video emphasizing that to win the AFC West, they must beat Kansas City.

“Nothing worth having is ever easy,” says the narrator in the video posted on X on November 15. “They don’t ask, ‘How?’ They ask, ‘How many?’ Seven straight weren’t handed to us. We took them, earned them, bled for them. And if we want this division, the task is direct.”

The Broncos currently hold a split record against the Chiefs this season, setting the stage for an intense Week 11 battle.
