Sacramento State secured a thrilling 23-20 victory over Idaho on Saturday night, thanks to standout performances from Rodney Hammond Jr. and Jaquail Smith, both of whom rushed for over 100 yards.
The game came down to the wire as quarterback Cardell Williams scored the game-winning touchdown with just nine seconds remaining. Idaho had taken a 20-16 lead with 3:17 left in the fourth quarter after scoring two touchdowns late in the game.
In response, Williams orchestrated an impressive 14-play, 67-yard drive, culminating in a 2-yard touchdown run that sealed the win for Sacramento State.
Jaquail Smith contributed 122 rushing yards, while Rodney Hammond Jr. added 120 yards on the ground. With the victory, Sacramento State improved their record to 7-4 and extended their winning streak to three games.
Idaho’s Joshua Wood also had a notable performance, throwing for 162 yards and rushing for 117 yards in the losing effort.
