Earlier, an IndiGo flight from Kanpur to Delhi was delayed by three hours after a rat was spotted inside the aircraft. The unexpected rodent created panic among passengers and crew, ultimately leading to the prolonged delay.
The surprising incident took place on September 21, when the IndiGo flight landed at Kanpur Airport at around 2:10 pm. The Delhi-Kanpur flight was bound to return to Delhi just before the rat was spotted inside the aircraft by one of the cabin crew members. As per reports, all 172 passengers who had boarded the plane were disembarked.
Technical staff and crew members at Kanpur Airport took over the situation. Officials added that the rat was found inside the aircraft for about three hours before being noticed. The Kanpur-Delhi flight, which was originally scheduled to depart at 2:55 pm, eventually departed at 6:04 pm, marking a significant delay of around three hours.
However, IndiGo Airlines has not issued any official statement regarding the incident that took place at Kanpur Airport.
In a separate incident, an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Phuket on September 19 was diverted to Chennai after a security threat was detected onboard, the airline confirmed in an official statement. Flight 6E 1089, which took off from Mumbai en route to Phuket, Thailand, was diverted following the detection of the threat.
Following standard safety protocols, the flight crew immediately alerted the relevant authorities. The flight was then diverted to Chennai for precautionary security checks to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew.
