Drug Peddler Attacks Sakinaka Police Team with Knife in Andheri West
Mumbai: A 27-year-old drug peddler allegedly attacked a Sakinaka police team with a knife on Wednesday, injuring sub-inspector Shahikant Patil, 51, and constable Pankaj Pardeshi, 38. The accused, Akib Khan, also attempted to harm himself but was arrested and remanded to police custody until October 10.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on September 24 at around 8 pm near Patre Wali Chawl and Farukhiya Masjid in Andheri West. The Sakinaka police had set a trap after receiving intelligence regarding Khan’s movements.
As the officers moved to apprehend him, Khan allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened them. Despite the attack, the police managed to subdue and arrest him.
Links to Drug Syndicate
Police revealed that Akib Khan is connected to a gang involved in drug manufacturing. Earlier, in July 2025, two drug factories associated with this gang in Palghar and Karnataka were demolished. This crackdown resulted in eight arrests and the seizure of goods worth Rs 390 crore.
A case has been registered against Khan by the DN Nagar police, and investigations are ongoing.
