**Amazon Fresh Expands to 270+ Cities Across India**

Amazon Fresh, the grocery division of Amazon India, has significantly expanded its footprint, now serving more than 270 cities nationwide. This marks a remarkable increase from approximately 60 cities just two years ago, highlighting rapid growth in reach and consumer adoption.
### Strong Consumer Growth and Adoption
According to Srikant Sree Ram, Director at Amazon Fresh, the company was present in only around 30 cities three years ago. Today, Amazon Fresh’s presence has grown nearly ninefold, with consumers appreciating the quality of fresh fruits, vegetables, and perishables alongside notable savings.
During the initial two days of the ongoing Great Indian Festival sale, Amazon Fresh reported an impressive 40% year-on-year (YoY) growth in sales value, underscoring strong consumer demand.
### Surge in Sales Across Categories
The festive season has driven a significant spike in demand across multiple product categories:
– **Dry fruits and nuts:** 21x YoY growth
– **Multivitamins:** 5x growth
– **Sports nutrition:** 4x growth
– **Beauty products:** 70% growth
– **Nail care (niche category):** 5x growth
– **Gift sets:** 12x growth
This surge reflects expanding consumer interest in health, wellness, and gifting options during festive periods.
### Positive Financial Impact Fueled by GST Reforms
GST reforms implemented alongside the Amazon Great Indian Festival sale contributed to increased festive shopping. Sree Ram noted that consumers saved crores of rupees, with more than ₹260 crore saved in just two days through SBI debit and credit card transactions.
Additionally, Amazon Fresh has observed a behavioral shift, with consumers moving from monthly bulk stocking towards more frequent weekly shopping habits.
### Strategic Growth and Farmer Engagement
Amazon Fresh’s 4.5x expansion has been driven by data insights from Amazon.in’s marketplace and Prime member density, which help identify high-demand clusters across the country. Importantly, the company has doubled its farmer base in the last two years—from 6,000 to 13,000 farmers.
Nearly 70% of fruits and vegetables are now sourced from within a 200 km radius of customer locations, supporting local agriculture and ensuring freshness.
### Enhanced Service and Fulfillment Capabilities
The product range on Amazon Fresh has grown to over 40,000 items, a substantial jump from around 3,000-4,000 products three years ago.
To ensure timely delivery, Amazon Fresh offers slotted delivery windows of two hours, covering at least 90% of pincodes in every city it operates. In major metros like Bengaluru, the service is supported by over 20 fulfillment centers, while smaller cities are served by dedicated single centers.
