**Texas School District Bans Holocaust Novel *The Devil’s Arithmetic***
A Texas school district has banned the Holocaust novel *The Devil’s Arithmetic* following the use of artificial intelligence to detect content related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), which was deemed forbidden in classroom materials.
The decision came after the district employed AI technology to screen books for DEI content, leading to the removal of Jane Yolen’s most famous work, *The Devil’s Arithmetic*, from the curriculum.
*The Devil’s Arithmetic* is a critically acclaimed novel that explores the experiences of Jewish people during the Holocaust. Jane Yolen, the author, is widely recognized for her contributions to children’s and young adult literature.
