Pakistan women’s cricket player Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct. The incident occurred during the recent match against India held in Colombo on Sunday.
According to an ICC statement, Amin violated Article 2.2, which addresses the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”
### Incident Details
The offense took place when Amin, frustrated after being dismissed in the 40th over, slammed her bat on the pitch. Amin accepted responsibility for her actions and agreed to the sanction proposed by the match referee, Shandre Fritz.
Since this was her first offense within a 24-month period, Amin received one demerit point for a Level 1 breach. This avoided the need for a formal hearing process.
### Official Charges
The charges against Sidra Amin were brought forward by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.
Level 1 offenses under ICC regulations may lead to an official reprimand or a penalty of up to 50% of the player’s match fee. Given this was Amin’s first infringement in two years, and considering her acceptance of the proposed penalty, she received a reprimand without further sanctions.
### Match Outcome
Despite Amin’s impressive top score of 81 runs off 106 balls, Pakistan was bowled out for 159 runs while chasing India’s target of 248. This 88-run defeat marks Pakistan’s second loss in the ongoing Women’s World Cup tournament. Earlier, they were defeated by Bangladesh in their opening match.
Looking ahead, Pakistan will face Australia next on Wednesday as they seek to bounce back in the competition.
