The 52-year-old artist, who sadly passed away on Friday in Singapore following a seizure while swimming, had described the popular 2001 track—also featuring vocals by Kalpana Patowary—as his “fantasy.”

In an old video shared by Just Assam Things on Instagram, Garg said,
*”Ei gaan tu mur fantasy hoy. Moy jetia morim, gutei Axom’r ei gan tu gaabo lagibo”* (This song is my fantasy. When I die, entire Assam has to sing this song).
In another clip shared by GPlus on Instagram, he added,
*”Moy morile eitu gaan he bajibo kintu”* (When I die, this song should play).
His deep connection to *Mayabini* made it very clear how important the song was both to him and to his fans.

In a touching tribute, hundreds of fans gathered outside Garg’s home in Guwahati on Saturday and Sunday. Before his mortal remains were taken to Sarusajai Stadium for public homage, admirers came together to sing the evergreen song *Mayabini* with heartfelt emotion.

### Clarification on His Passing
According to reports, Zubeen Garg was swimming in Singapore when he suffered a seizure attack. He had gone swimming multiple times with friends, all of whom were wearing life jackets and safely returned to shore on a yacht. However, when Garg swam again, the seizure occurred.
The singer, actor, and philanthropist was serving as the Cultural Brand Ambassador for the now-canceled North East India Festival scheduled for September 20-21.
