All three suspects in a vandalism spree at Westchester County’s Playland Amusement Park have now surrendered to County Police.
The three men are accused of entering the amusement park during the overnight hours of September 23-24, committing acts of theft and vandalism. According to police, the trio arrived at Playland beach in a small boat shortly before midnight on September 23, then climbed a fence to enter the amusement area. All three suspects are residents of New Jersey.
Connor Evancho, 20, of Pompton Lakes, turned himself in on November 12 at County Police headquarters in Hawthorne. Daniel Bracco, 19, of Oakland, surrendered on November 10. The third suspect, Anthony Conkling, 19, of Wyckoff, turned himself in about a week prior to the others.
Each of the men faces felony charges of Burglary in the Third Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. Additionally, they are charged with two misdemeanors: Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Petit Larceny. All three suspects were released on their own recognizance following arraignment in Rye City Court.
Police allege the men committed the following acts:
– Vandalized an electrical room, cutting or ripping out fiber optic cables for phone and internet service
– Stole approximately 200 stuffed animals, which were hauled away in garbage bags
– Attempted to throw a photo booth off the boardwalk but were unsuccessful
The total damage to Playland property is estimated at $57,000.
Investigators say the boat used to access the park was apparently taken from, and later returned to, a boat club in Connecticut. The case was investigated by detectives from the County Police General Investigations Unit, with police receiving multiple tips from the public during the investigation.
