ARC Raiders received an update this week, bringing with it some additional details that weren’t included in the base patch notes. Notably, Embark Studios revealed that they have been testing and implementing a new duo matchmaking system.
It’s important to clarify that this isn’t a separate duos mode. Instead, it’s a matchmaking system designed to increase the likelihood that duo queues will be matched together. The goal is for solo and trio queues to receive similar treatment, aligning players with others in the same queue size whenever possible.
Embark Studios provided some insight into this duo matchmaking system in a recent light update blog, which also covered topics related to the in-game store. According to the developers, duo matchmaking prioritization works by trying to ensure that duos matchmake with other duos, solos with solos, and trios with trios.
However, this system isn’t foolproof. As a solo player, you might still find yourself facing squads or duos from time to time. Embark Studios has indicated that they will continue to monitor and adjust the matchmaking system as the game evolves, aiming to improve the experience for all players.
