A 42-year-old man who was arrested in Dauphin County for carrying a gun died in a Fayette County prison earlier this month, according to the state Department of Corrections. On Nov. 18, prison staff at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette found Fredderick Hall Jr. unresponsive in his cell. Staffers immediately provided life-saving measures until the facility’s medical staff arrived. Brownsville EMS then provided Hall with advanced life support while transferring him to UPMC Presbyterian. Hall, who was serving a five-to-11-year sentence for possessing a firearm in Dauphin County while prohibited, was pronounced dead just after 4 p. m. on Nov. 22. Hall had been incarcerated at SCI Fayette since Sept. 11. His family has been informed of his death. Pennsylvania State Police were notified of the death and will conduct an investigation. Hall’s cause and manner of death will be determined by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
