Samsung already makes some of the best smartphone displays on the market. At this point, big jumps in resolution or refresh rate don’t matter as much as how the screen performs in real life. For the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, two rumored and expected features promise to make Samsung’s next Ultra flagship truly stand out.
### Privacy Display: Enhanced Screen Privacy Without Compromise
The more intriguing of the two features is the **Privacy Display**. Based on leaks from third-party sources and Samsung itself, this technology will make the screen harder to see from the sides while keeping it clear when viewed straight on. Think of it as a built-in privacy screen — but without the typical downsides associated with physical screen protectors that can dull colors or reduce brightness.
This feature makes a lot of sense for everyday use. We often use our phones in public, where sensitive information is right there on the screen for anyone nearby to glimpse. With Privacy Display, Samsung could give users the ability to quickly enable extra privacy or have it activate automatically for certain apps such as banking or messaging. It’s a small change, but one that could significantly enhance the user experience.
### Gorilla Armor Glass: Durable and Less Reflective
The second highlight is **Gorilla Armor glass** — a tough, scratch-resistant glass introduced with the Galaxy S24 Ultra and carried over to the S25 Ultra. It is almost certain to return on the S26 Ultra as well.
What makes Gorilla Armor particularly valuable is not just its durability but its ability to dramatically reduce reflections. This means the display is easier to read outdoors and under bright lighting conditions. While this also means you can’t use the screen as a mirror, you can always switch on the camera when needed.
Samsung has not marketed Gorilla Armor as much as it probably should have. However, it’s one of those features that quietly improves the everyday viewing experience. Ideally, Samsung would bring this to more models across its lineup. For comparison, Apple equipped all iPhone 17 models with anti-reflective displays, not just the Pro and Pro Max versions. We hope Samsung takes a similar approach in the future.
For now, though, there is no indication that Gorilla Armor glass will extend beyond the Ultra model in the Galaxy S26 lineup.
### When to Expect the Galaxy S26 Series
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 lineup in the latter half of February, likely on the 25th. As anticipation builds, these two display innovations — Privacy Display and Gorilla Armor glass — could help set the Galaxy S26 Ultra apart in a crowded premium smartphone market.
