**Eric Church to Miss 2026 Grammy Awards Despite Nomination Due to Illness**
Eric Church will be absent from the 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony, even though his album *Evangeline Vs. the Machine* is nominated for Best Contemporary Country Album. The event is scheduled for Sunday night, February 1, in Los Angeles, California.
In a heartfelt social media post ahead of the show, Church explained that illness is the reason for his absence. “I’m so disappointed to miss the Grammy Awards tonight due to illness,” he shared. “I’ve tried everything possible to be there in person and unfortunately I just can’t do it.”
Despite missing the ceremony, Church extended his best wishes to all the nominees and expressed his deep respect for the honor. He stated that he “greatly respect[s] what this honor means and stands for in the music community.”
**Will Eric Church’s Illness Affect Upcoming Performances?**
At present, Eric Church plans to proceed with his next scheduled concert. He is set to perform in Omaha, Nebraska, on Thursday, February 5. In his message, the singer expressed hope to “rest up and see everybody in Omaha next week.”
**Has Eric Church Ever Won a Grammy?**
Although Eric Church is one of the most prominent artists in the country music genre and has received numerous awards from country-specific shows, he has never won a Grammy Award. This year’s nomination marks his 11th Grammy nod overall.
His first Grammy nomination came in 2012 for Best Country Album with *Chief*. Since then, Church has been a frequent nominee, consistently recognized in genre-specific categories.
