Louisiana immigration Judge Jamee Comans has ordered the deportation of Columbia University graduate student Mahmoud Khalil to either Algeria or Syria, citing his alleged activism ties as a factor in the decision.
Khalil’s legal team has announced plans to appeal the ruling, framing the case as a civil rights issue.
