In a recent interview on Bharti TV, singer-actor Aditya Narayan opened up about his childhood and his relationship with his father, veteran singer Udit Narayan. He described Udit as a “strict but loving” parent who disciplined him until he turned 18, shedding light on their unique father-son dynamic.
**A Balance of Discipline and Love**
Aditya revealed, “My dad gave me a good dose of discipline until I turned 18. He would hit me. I was beaten a lot. But back then, it was almost normal. Among friends, we would even compare who got hit the most.” He emphasized that despite the strictness, his father struck a balance, saying, “My dad struck a balance; he loved me but also disciplined me. He was very strict.”
**Limited Time Together, Unconditional Love**
Due to Udit Narayan’s busy schedule, the father and son only met for about three to four days each month. Aditya explained, “Dad only got about three to four days with me every month. So, he felt he had to overcompensate. He would try to fit in all of life’s lessons in those few days.” He added, “He never praised my achievements. I think it was my search for his validation that pushed me to become who I am today.”
**Career Journey and Education**
Aditya began his career as a child artist at the age of five and got his big break in the 1998 film *Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai*. He used the earnings from this film to fund his education before moving to London for higher studies. Interestingly, Udit Narayan eventually paid for Aditya’s education in London, even though he wasn’t fully aware of when Aditya finished school.
Aditya Narayan’s candid revelations highlight the complexities of growing up under the guidance of a legendary father, balancing discipline with love, limited time with lifelong lessons, and the quest for validation that shaped his journey.
