**Narayanpur: Twelve Naxals, Including Five Women, Surrender in Chhattisgarh**
Twelve Naxals, carrying a total bounty of Rs 18 lakhs, have surrendered before the police in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. Among them are five women and seven men. According to Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Robinson Guria, two of the surrendered individuals were ECMs (Executive Committee Members) in their Naxal outfit operating in the Indravati and East Bastar areas.
The SP revealed that under the government’s surrender policy, each of the Naxals received Rs 50,000. Additionally, their identification documents have been arranged to ensure they can avail benefits from various government schemes.
One of the surrendered Naxals was from Platoon 16, whose commander was neutralized in a recent operation. Superintendent Guria stated that the Naxals decided to surrender due to the combined pressure of ongoing anti-Naxal operations and encouragement through the surrender policy.
> “They have expressed that they are under pressure as they know the police will continue anti-Naxal operations. They are surrendering because of the government’s surrender policy,” said the SP.
In 2025 so far, a total of 171 Naxals, including several top cadre members, have surrendered under this scheme.

**Recent Encounters in Chhattisgarh and Gadchiroli**
Earlier on Wednesday, two Naxals were killed in an encounter in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. Acting on intelligence regarding the presence of Naxals in the south-western region of Bijapur, security forces launched a search operation. Arms and ammunition were recovered alongside the bodies at the site of the encounter.
Similarly, in Gadchiroli district, two women Naxalites were killed in an encounter with police forces. According to police reports, information was received about members of the Gatta LOS group camping in the forest near Modaske Village, under Police Station Gatta Jambhiya in Etapalli Taluka.
An operation was launched under Additional SP Aheri Satya Sai Karthik, involving five C60 units from Aheri. The Gatta Jambhiya police team and CRPF E Coy 191 Battalion supported the operation by laying an outer cordon.
During the search, the C60 contingent was fired upon indiscriminately by Maoists, who were met with an effective retaliatory response by the security forces.
Superintendent of Police Neelotpal reported that the search led to the recovery of two female Maoist bodies. Along with the bodies, authorities seized an automatic AK-47 rifle, a sophisticated pistol, live ammunition, a large volume of literature, and other belongings.
