**Market Cap of India’s Top 10 Firms Drops by ₹2.99 Lakh Crore**

The combined market capitalization of India’s top 10 most valued companies took a significant hit last week, plunging by ₹2.99 lakh crore. This steep decline was in line with the broader bearish trend in the equity markets and was primarily led by IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which experienced the largest drop.
During the same period, the BSE benchmark index also fell sharply, losing 2,199.77 points or 2.66%.
### Major Decline Among Top Firms
Among the leading companies, **Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)** suffered the biggest loss in market capitalization, falling by ₹97,597.91 crore to ₹10,49,281.56 crore.
**Reliance Industries** saw its valuation dip by ₹40,462.09 crore, bringing its market cap down to ₹18,64,436.42 crore. **Infosys** was not far behind, with a decrease of ₹38,095.78 crore from its previous value of ₹6,01,805.25 crore.
### Banking Sector Sees Significant Impact
The banking sector also faced notable losses. **HDFC Bank’s** market capitalization dropped by ₹33,032.97 crore to ₹14,51,783.29 crore, while **ICICI Bank** saw its valuation slide by ₹29,646.78 crore to ₹9,72,007.68 crore.
Additionally, **Bharti Airtel’s** market cap fell by ₹26,030.11 crore. The **Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC)** experienced a decrease of ₹13,693.62 crore, settling at ₹5,51,919.30 crore.
### Other Companies with Market Cap Declines
**Hindustan Unilever** recorded a market cap drop of ₹11,278.04 crore, reaching ₹5,89,947.12 crore at the time of writing.
**Bajaj Finance** saw its valuation decline by ₹4,977.99 crore from its previous ₹6,12,914.73 crore.
Finally, the **State Bank of India (SBI)** experienced a dip in valuation by ₹4,846.07 crore, with its market cap standing at ₹7,91,063.93 crore as of now.
