### Mohsin Naqvi Offers to Hand Over 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup Trophy to India — On One Condition

Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has offered to hand over the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup trophy to India. However, he insists that Indian players must come and collect it in person. This development follows Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, refusing to accept the trophy from Naqvi during the post-final presentation ceremony.

While India celebrated their victory on the field, Naqvi left the presentation area taking the trophy and individual medals with him.

### No Resolution on Trophy Handover After ACC Meeting

In a recent post on X, Naqvi stated, “As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day, and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me.”

This statement came after the latest ACC meeting held in Dubai, chaired by Naqvi himself. Representing the BCCI were Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar, but the meeting ended without reaching any resolution on the long-standing trophy dispute.

### Presentation Ceremony Delayed by Standoff

The tense situation led to an hour-long standoff following the final match. India reportedly proposed accepting the trophy from Emirates Cricket Board chairman Khalid Al Zarooni and Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam instead. However, Naqvi insisted on presenting the trophy personally and rejected the alternative proposals.

Due to India’s reluctance, the presentation ceremony concluded without the winning team receiving their trophy or winner’s medals. Notably, Naqvi not only walked off the stage but exited the stadium with ACC officials, carrying the trophy with them.

### Naqvi: “Felt Like a Cartoon”

During the ACC meeting on Tuesday, Naqvi expressed his frustration over the incident. He said he arrived on the ceremony podium hoping to hand over the medals and trophy to Suryakumar Yadav and his teammates but ended up feeling humiliated, describing the experience as being made “like a cartoon” as he waited alone on the stage.

He also lamented that he was not informed beforehand about India’s decision to refuse the Asia Cup trophy.

### BCCI Maintains a Firm Stand

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a warning to Naqvi, stating that it will lodge a complaint with the ICC if the trophy is not returned. Representatives Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar emphasized that the trophy belongs to the ACC and must be handed over to the winning team.

Despite Naqvi’s grievances, the BCCI remains unwavering in their demand for the trophy’s return. The matter remains unresolved and is slated for further discussion in upcoming meetings.

### Controversies Amidst Political Tensions

The 2025 T20 Asia Cup witnessed intense clashes between India and Pakistan, with India winning all three encounters, including the final. The historic cricket rivalry was overshadowed by political tensions that spilled over into calls for boycotts, on-field verbal exchanges, and official complaints lodged by both cricket boards.

Relations between the two countries have been strained since the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025. India retaliated with Operation Sindoor, while Pakistan responded with drone attacks, further escalating bilateral tensions.
