Pakistan women’s cricket team player Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during a recent match against India in Colombo.
According to an ICC statement, Amin violated Article 2.2, which relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings” during an international match.
### Incident Details
The offense occurred when Amin slammed her bat on the pitch after being dismissed in the 40th over. Amin acknowledged her misconduct and accepted the sanction proposed by the match referee, Shandre Fritz.
Since this was her first offense within a 24-month period, Amin was given one demerit point for a Level 1 breach. As a result, she avoided a formal hearing process.
### Charges and Penalties
The charges against Sidra Amin were brought forward by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, along with third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.
Level 1 offenses under the ICC Code of Conduct can result in an official reprimand or a penalty of up to 50% of a player’s match fee. In this case, Amin accepted the punishment without contesting.
### Match Outcome
Despite Amin’s top-scoring effort—81 runs off 106 balls—Pakistan was bowled out for 159 while chasing India’s target of 248. The match ended with India winning by 88 runs.
This defeat marks Pakistan’s second loss in the ongoing World Cup tournament, having previously lost to Bangladesh in their opener.
The Pakistan women’s team is scheduled to face Australia next on Wednesday as they continue their campaign.
