Veteran South African all-rounder Sune Luus has reached a major milestone by crossing the 2,500-run mark in Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs). The 29-year-old achieved this feat with her ninth run during the ICC Women’s World Cup match against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. South Africa is currently chasing a target of 232 runs in this exciting encounter.
**Batting Achievements**
Playing her 136th WODI, Luus has compiled over 2,500 runs at an average exceeding 24. Throughout her career, she has registered 16 scores of fifty or more, including one century. Her strike rate stands at around 66, reflecting her ability to balance aggression with consistency.
Making her WODI debut back in 2012, Luus has become only the sixth South African woman to cross the 2,500-run milestone, highlighting her importance and longevity in the team.
**Bowling Highlights**
Apart from her batting prowess, Luus is also a significant threat with the ball. She has taken 116 wickets in WODIs at an impressive average of 23.33. Her bowling record includes three four-wicket hauls and five five-wicket hauls—just one behind West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed, who leads with six.
This dual excellence ranks Luus among an elite group of eight all-rounders who have achieved the rare double of 2,500 runs and 100 wickets in Women’s ODIs, underlining her invaluable all-round contribution to South African cricket.
