Mumbai: The revenue department is likely to amend legal provisions to eliminate non-agricultural (NA) taxes levied during the conversion of agricultural land into commercial and residential units. This decision by the state cabinet was made last year under the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government.
### NA Tax Collection Process Explained
The NA tax is imposed by municipal bodies on properties located within their jurisdiction, whether commercial or residential. Additionally, the revenue department collects fees when processing new applications for converting agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.
However, the implementation of this amendment has faced delays due to legal challenges.
Meanwhile, during a meeting on policy reforms held on Thursday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the requirement to obtain NA permission for certain extents of land needed by micro and small industries and food processing units will be removed.
This move aims to simplify processes and promote industrial growth in the state.
