**US: 19 Feared Dead in Massive Plant Explosion in Tennessee**

A devastating explosion struck the Accurate Energetic Systems plant in rural Tennessee on Friday morning, leaving 19 people missing and feared dead, according to authorities.
The blast occurred around 7:45 AM local time at the Hickman-Humphreys County facility, located west of Nashville. The plant is known for manufacturing and testing explosives for government contracts.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis described the scene to the New York Post as “the most devastating scene that I’ve seen in my career.”

### Aftermath
The explosion completely leveled one of the plant’s buildings, leaving behind smoldering wreckage and burnt-out vehicle shells. The blast was so powerful that it was felt miles away. Residents in nearby Lobelville reported their homes shook from the impact.
State Representative Jody Barrett, who lives in Dickson about 15 miles (24 kilometers) from the site, also felt the explosion. She said, “It sounded like something going through the roof of our house.”

### Response Efforts
Emergency crews initially faced difficulties entering the plant due to ongoing detonations. By Friday afternoon, however, authorities confirmed the scene was under control and there was no further danger of explosions.
Grey Collier from the Humphreys County Emergency Management Agency confirmed the situation had stabilized.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown. Officials have launched an investigation, which could take several days to determine what led to the catastrophic event.

This tragic event is not the first incident to impact the McEwen area. In 2014, a similar accident at Rio Ammunition resulted in one fatality and injuries to three others during cartridge loading operations.
