NCP MP Tatkare Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Vote Theft Allegations
NCP MP Tatkare has dismissed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent vote theft allegations as “childish,” claiming that Gandhi lacks an understanding of election booth operations.
During a press interaction, Tatkare responded to Gandhi’s accusations, stating, “This is a childish statement of the Leader of Opposition; he has no idea of the local or booth level.” He emphasized that the electoral roll is continuously updated and that suggestions and objections are taken into consideration even after it is initially prepared.
“Electoral roll is being modified all the while, and while it is published at a certain time, objections and suggestions can be taken,” Tatkare explained, according to ANI.
Further addressing the issue, Tatkare highlighted the role of booth officers and block officers from each party during elections. He questioned whether Gandhi believed his own party workers, who are present at the booths, could have been involved in any malicious activity.
“Booth-level officers from each party are chosen from each party. As per him, his people were present too. Does he believe that they, too, were involved in that activity? This is the question I want to ask,” Tatkare remarked.
Gandhi had earlier alleged an attempt at vote theft in Karnataka’s Aland constituency. At a press conference on Thursday, he claimed that attempts were made to delete more than 6,000 voter names in the 2023 elections in Aland.
“In Aland, Karnataka, 6018 votes, somebody tried to delete these votes. We don’t know the total number of votes deleted in the 2023 elections, but somebody got caught. It was caught, by most crimes, by coincidence. What happened was that the Booth Level officer noticed that her uncle’s vote had been deleted,” Gandhi had said.
Earlier reports also mentioned that Pitroda had stated in a media interaction that he had been to Pakistan and “felt at home,” though this comment drew separate attention.
The debate continues as political parties exchange allegations amid ongoing election scrutiny.
