**Why Adani Properties Has Moved the Supreme Court**

**What’s the Story?**
Adani Properties has filed an application in the Supreme Court as a “proposed buyer” to support Sahara’s request for selling 88 of its properties. The company seeks to be heard alongside Sahara as the latter argues for the sale of these assets. The application was mentioned today before a bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) B R Gavai.
**Court Proceedings**
In September, Sahara India Real Estate Corporation (SIRECL) and Sahara Housing Investment Corporation (SHICL) moved the Supreme Court seeking permission to sell 88 properties in Aamby Valley to Adani Properties for an undisclosed amount. The plea confirmed Adani’s interest in the deal and stated that a term sheet had been finalized.
**Asset Expansion**
Sahara’s plea is not limited to just the 88 listed properties. The group is also seeking court approval to sell other assets, requesting that the permission cover properties “including but not limited to” those mentioned. This step is part of Sahara’s broader efforts to manage its asset portfolio and address pressing financial matters.
**Legal Protection**
Alongside its asset sale requests, Sahara has sought exemptions from any regulatory or criminal investigations by various authorities, including state police, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), Income Tax Department, and other central or state bodies. Additionally, Sahara has asked that no other court or tribunal be allowed to hear cases related to these properties during the sale process. These measures aim to ensure smooth asset management and legal clarity.
**Additional Requests**
Sahara has also appealed to the Supreme Court for the intervention to vacate any attachment, restraint, or injunction orders imposed by High Courts, SEBI, ED, or tax authorities. Furthermore, the group seeks protection against investigations and probes involving money received by the company, its promoters, family members, or employees.
This latest move underscores Sahara’s attempt to streamline its asset sales while navigating complex legal and regulatory challenges, with Adani Properties positioning itself as a key stakeholder in the process.
