The disciplinary action follows his exuberant celebrations during Chelsea’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in Matchday 7 of the Premier League 2025-26 season.

Maresca’s passionate celebrations after Chelsea’s last-minute winner caught the attention of referee Anthony Taylor, who deemed his behavior inappropriate. Consequently, Maresca was shown a second yellow card and sent to the stands.
The FA confirmed that Maresca admitted to the charge of inappropriate or abusive/insulting behavior during the match and accepted the standard penalty. As a result, he will miss Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League fixture away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
