Forget the Galaxy S26 Pro because that phone doesn’t actually exists

Posted on 2025 年 10 月 17 日 by admin

Samsung’s Plan for the Galaxy S26 Series May Be More Familiar Than Expected

The Galaxy S26 rumor mill has been swirling wildly, turning expectations into a bit of a rollercoaster ride. After months of speculation about a possible name change for the base Galaxy S26 device, it now appears that Samsung may keep things simple and stick with the traditional naming scheme.

### No Galaxy S26 Pro

According to a recent report from SamMobile, the Galaxy S26 Pro will not be released. Instead, Samsung is expected to launch the smallest model simply as the Galaxy S26, alongside the Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra, following their usual lineup convention.

This news comes shortly after it was revealed that Samsung has scrapped plans for a Galaxy S26 Edge. Following the poor sales of the ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung decided to cancel its successor and shift its focus toward the Galaxy S26 Plus.

### Little Change for the Base Model

This development shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. None of the leaks concerning the base Galaxy S26 model suggested features significant enough to warrant a new “Pro” suffix. The device is expected to maintain the same 6.2-inch 1080p display, similar camera setup, and will likely be powered by the Exynos 2600 chipset in many markets.

The most notable change might be a larger battery, boosting capacity to 4,300 mAh.

### How Does It Stack Up?

These specs are quite similar to the Galaxy S25 and fall short when compared to competing Pro devices. Apple’s lineup, for example, features the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, though the real competitor to the Galaxy S26 (or Pro) appears to be the base iPhone 17.

Outside the United States, Xiaomi has adopted a similar naming strategy as Apple, offering the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Pro. The base Xiaomi 17 aligns closely with what the Galaxy S26 (Pro) is expected to offer.

### Naming: Does It Really Matter?

Samsung sticking with the Galaxy S26 naming scheme wouldn’t be surprising, nor is it seen as necessary. Unless there’s a major detail the rumor mill has missed, changing the naming convention may even risk confusing consumers and damaging Samsung’s brand reputation.
