**Blake Treinen on Faith, Baseball, and His Mission to “Make Heaven Crowded”**
Outspoken Christian Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen is on a mission—not just to help his team win a second consecutive World Series—but also to “make Heaven crowded.” The 37-year-old proudly shared his faith during a recent interview with CBN Sports published last week.
“I think my family’s name is great in the eyes of God, but in the eyes of the world, nobody really knew the Treinens, and I don’t really care if they do,” Treinen said. “I want them to see Christ’s greatness and what He’s accomplished in my career.”
He pondered the question, “How do we make Heaven crowded?” emphasizing that he doesn’t “want to see any of [his] teammates or anybody in the stands or anybody in this world face the alternative.”
“Making Heaven crowded,” the pitcher explained, “is my goal. Every single one of us has been given a gift and our way of repaying it to the Lord is: how do we honor Him with that gift? When I am welcomed into the gates of Heaven, I want to hear, ‘Job well done, good and faithful servant,'” he concluded.
### A Journey Through Baseball
Treinen’s career has taken him through several teams. Drafted in the 23rd round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins, he made his major league debut with the Washington Nationals in 2014. He spent parts of four seasons with the Nationals before becoming an Oakland Athletic in 2017.
In 2018, Treinen earned his only All-Star Game selection and finished sixth in the American League Cy Young Award voting, racking up a career-best 38 saves. Since 2020, he has been pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Following the Dodgers’ World Series victory last year, Treinen spoke to MLB Network, saying, “God is absolutely good. I got to give a shout out to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for this moment.” When asked who he thought of on the final out, Treinen simply responded, “God.”
### Eyeing Another Championship
The Dodgers are headed back to the World Series this year after a commanding four-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. They will face either the Seattle Mariners or the Toronto Blue Jays.
### Faith on Social Media and Standing by Convictions
Treinen’s X profile (formerly Twitter), which has not been updated in over three years, prominently displays his faith. His biography reads, “I love Jesus Christ he is my savior,” accompanied by a cross emoji and an American flag next to his name.
In 2023, Treinen publicly condemned the Dodgers over the team’s plans to recognize the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence during the celebration of LGBT Pride Month. The Sisters are a group of men in drag who dress as Catholic nuns, which Treinen viewed as offensive.
He indicated readiness to accept any consequences for speaking out, stating, “I understand that playing baseball is a privilege, and not a right. My convictions with Jesus Christ will always come first.”
Treinen asserted, “Inviting the [Sisters] of Perpetual Indulgence to perform disenfranchises a large community and promotes hate of Christians and people of faith.” He added, “This single event alienates the fans and supporters of the Dodgers, Major League Baseball, and professional sports.”
Citing his confidence in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, Treinen referenced Galatians 6:7, which states, “Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked; a man reaps what he sows,” as a Scripture verse that informed his stance.
