A United Airlines flight headed to Los Angeles experienced a sudden scare last week when a cracked windshield forced an emergency diversion.
Flight 1093, a Boeing 737 Max 8, was just 50 minutes into its journey from Denver when the flight crew reported the damage. To ensure passenger safety, the plane was diverted to Salt Lake City.
Fortunately, the aircraft landed safely with no serious injuries reported. Passengers were later transferred to a replacement plane and arrived in Los Angeles approximately six hours behind schedule.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the incident. The damaged windshield will be sent to a laboratory for detailed testing to determine the cause of the crack.
United Airlines and aviation authorities continue to prioritize passenger safety as they work to understand what led to this event.
