Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has drawn a striking comparison between the accused in the recent Disha Patani house-firing case and “Maareech,” a demon from Indian mythology known for his disguise skills. Speaking at an event at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow on Saturday, the CM said,
“A criminal involved in women-related crime came from outside the State. He possibly entered like Maareech, but when the Uttar Pradesh Police’s bullet hit him, he admitted to wrongly entering the State and vowed never to show such audacity again.”
### Arrest Details: Encounter with Police
The accused, identified as Ramanivas, attempted to flee alongside his aide after opening fire at police officers. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya reported,
“We asked them to surrender, but he opened fire at the police team and in retaliation suffered a bullet injury.”
Ramanivas was arrested after a police encounter on Friday along with his associate, Anil. Authorities recovered a .32-bore pistol along with four live cartridges and four spent shells from the accused.
A video circulating on social media shows Ramanivas lying on the ground with folded hands following the encounter.
### Focus on Women’s Safety
Addressing the incident, CM Adityanath emphasized the importance of stringent actions against criminals threatening women’s safety. He stated,
“This has to be done with every criminal who disturbs women’s safety.”
### Gratitude from Disha Patani’s Family
Actor Disha Patani’s father, retired police officer Jagdish Patani, expressed his gratitude toward CM Adityanath for swift action in the case. In a video message, he said,
“UP police are working towards a fear-free society under Adityanath’s leadership. I thank UP CM Yogi Adityanath on behalf of me and my family.”
### Investigation Update: Second Encounter in the Case
This recent police encounter is the second one connected to the ongoing investigation into the case. The first encounter resulted in the killing of two active members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar gang near Tronica City in Ghaziabad. This operation was a collaborative effort by the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Uttar Pradesh-Haryana Special Task Forces.
