Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has likened a shooter arrested in the Disha Patani house-firing case to “Maareech,” a demon from mythology known for his disguise skills. The CM made this remark while addressing an event at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow on Saturday.
“A criminal involved in women-related crime came from outside the State. He possibly entered like Maareech, but when the Uttar Pradesh Police’s bullet struck him, he admitted that he had wrongly entered the State and will never show such audacity again,” Yogi Adityanath said.
### Arrest Details
The accused, identified as Ramanivas, was attempting to flee with his aide when police intercepted them. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya stated, “We asked them to surrender, but he opened fire at the police team. In retaliation, he sustained a bullet injury.”
Both Ramanivas and his associate, Anil, were arrested following the police encounter on Friday. Authorities recovered a .32-bore pistol, along with four live cartridges and four spent shells from the accused.
A video of the incident circulating on social media shows Ramanivas lying on the ground with folded hands.
### Focus on Women’s Safety
Addressing the incident, CM Adityanath emphasized the importance of decisive action against criminals who threaten women’s safety.
“This has to be done with every criminal who disrupts the safety of women,” he asserted.
### Gratitude from Disha Patani’s Family
Actor Disha Patani’s father, retired police officer Jagdish Patani, expressed his gratitude to CM Yogi Adityanath for his prompt intervention.
In a video message, he praised the UP police for their efforts to create a fear-free society under the Chief Minister’s leadership. “I thank UP CM Yogi Adityanath on behalf of myself and my family,” he said.
### Update on Investigation
This arrest marks the second encounter in the ongoing investigation related to the case. The first encounter involved the killing of two active members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar gang near Tronica City in Ghaziabad.
This operation was a joint effort between the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Uttar Pradesh-Haryana Special Task Forces.
The swift actions by law enforcement underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring safety and justice in Uttar Pradesh.
