Amul announced on Saturday a revised price list for over 700 products, passing on the full benefit of the GST reduction to its customers. These new prices will be effective from September 22, coinciding with the date the revised GST rates come into effect.
The price revision spans a wide range of product categories, including butter, ghee, UHT milk, ice cream, cheese, paneer, chocolates, bakery items, frozen dairy and potato snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, and malt-based drinks.
**Butter and Milk Prices**
After the revision, the price of butter (100 grams) will decrease to Rs 58 from Rs 62. The Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of Amul Taaza Toned Milk 1L Tetra Pack (TP) will be Rs 75, down by Rs 2. Amul Gold Standardised Milk 1L TP has been reduced to Rs 80.
In the ice cream segment, the Tub Vanilla Magic 1L will now be priced at Rs 180, which is Rs 15 less than before.
**Cheese and Peanut Spread**
Amul processed cheese block (1 kg) will be priced at Rs 545, down from Rs 575. Similarly, the new price of Amul Peanut Spread (900 grams) will be Rs 300 instead of Rs 325.
“As a cooperative owned by 3.6 million farmers, Amul believes that the reduction in prices will spur consumption of a wide range of dairy products, particularly ice cream, cheese, and butter. Given that per capita consumption in India remains very low, this creates a significant growth opportunity,” Amul said in an official statement.
**Impact on Consumption**
The dairy cooperative further added that the GST reduction will help increase Amul’s share of consumers’ revenue reaching the producers in a much larger way, benefiting both producers and consumers alike.
“Through this initiative, Amul continues to strengthen its legacy of serving consumers while sustaining the growth and welfare of farmers, ensuring that quality, affordability, and trust remain at the forefront of its operations,” the statement added.
**Communication to Trade Partners**
Amul has proactively communicated these price changes to its trade partners, including distributors, Amul Parlours, and retailers across India, ensuring a smooth transition.
