**San Diego State Shuts Out Fresno State 23-0 Behind Strong Defense and Ground Attack**
FRESNO, Calif. — Lucky Sutton rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown, while Tano Letuli returned an interception for a touchdown, as San Diego State shut out Fresno State 23-0 on Saturday.
The Aztecs (6-1, 3-0 Mountain West) managed just 124 yards through the air, but their ground game dominated with a combined 208 rushing yards. Sutton led the charge, scoring the offense’s only touchdown on a 1-yard run late in the first quarter. Notably, Sutton’s 46-yard rush and Byron Cardwell’s 54-yard reception were the only plays longer than 16 yards in the game.
Meanwhile, Fresno State (5-3, 2-2) struggled offensively, failing to produce a single play of at least 15 yards. The Bulldogs netted 227 yards of total offense but were unable to find the end zone.
San Diego State’s special teams also made an impact as Gabriel Plascencia contributed three field goals, including an impressive 50-yarder.
Defensively, Tano Letuli stood out by intercepting Fresno State quarterback Carson Conklin midway through the fourth quarter and returning it 31 yards for a touchdown. It was Conklin’s second interception of the game. Conklin finished 20-of-42 passing for 182 yards.
On the Aztecs’ side, Dalesean Staley led the defense with seven tackles, two pass breakups, and a split tackle for a loss. August Salvati added another interception to the team’s strong defensive performance.
With this victory, San Diego State continues its strong start in Mountain West play, maintaining momentum on both sides of the ball.
