Trevon Diggs will be sidelined for quite some time, but many fans are refusing to offer their sympathy. On Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys cornerback was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion in an incident at his home. This move will keep him out for at least four games, starting with tomorrow’s matchup against the Denver Broncos.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris reported that Diggs showed up to camp “with a visible mark on his head” and was ultimately sent home for treatment.
Instead of well wishes, Diggs mostly received ridicule from fans. One comment demanded, “CUT. HIS. ASS. SAVE. THE. MONEY.” Another hoped, “Defense might get better, dude is terrible.” Yet another suggested, “Go ahead sit for the year he wasn’t doing much anyway.”
This latest injury means Diggs will spend time on injured reserve for the third consecutive season. He tore his ACL during practice in 2023, which forced him to miss the remainder of that year and the start of 2024. Toward the end of the 2024 season, he was again sidelined with an injury to the same knee.
When asked about Diggs’ concussion following a win against the Washington Commanders, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declined to disclose details. “I don’t know the combination of the injury and how it happened. He said what happened, and I’m not saying that didn’t happen. But a lot of times, you’re not the best viewer of what happened to you. I won’t get into that, but the bottom line is that I do expect him back.”
Regarding Diggs’ return timetable, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones offered some insight during his appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Friday:
“There are things we’re looking at there. We haven’t ruled that out [injured reserve]. We’re just obviously taking this thing week to week, trying to see how we can get him 100% healthy to where he could help us.”
Besides Diggs, several other players will be unavailable for Sunday’s game against the Broncos. They include linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (knee), defensive backs Shavon Revel (knee), Donovan Wilson (elbow), Juanyeh Thomas (migraine), and center Cooper Beebe (ankle).
Kickoff for the Cowboys-Broncos game is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. CT on CBS.
